FLUX is a family of AI image generation models from Black Forest Labs (founded by the original Stable Diffusion researchers) that has become the professional community’s preferred open-weight model. FLUX.1 Pro and Dev offer state-of-the-art image quality — particularly for photorealism and text rendering.

FLUX.1 [schnell] is open-source and free. FLUX.1 [dev] is available under a non-commercial licence. FLUX.1 [pro] is ~$0.055 per image via the Replicate API.

Key strengths: superior text accuracy within images, excellent prompt adherence, strong anatomical accuracy, high resolution outputs. The LoRA training ecosystem has grown rapidly with thousands of community style models.

Because FLUX is open-weight, developers can fine-tune it, run it locally, and integrate it into applications without licensing fees.

Pros: Best text accuracy in images, excellent photorealism, open-weight for developers, strong LoRA ecosystem, competitive API pricing.
Cons: Less intuitive than Midjourney for consumers, community ecosystem smaller than SD.

Best for: Developers building image generation features, power users needing programmatic access, and professionals fine-tuning models for specific styles.
